Overview: 

To support SGTD’s growing throughput and ensure uninterrupted yard operations, a full upgrade and expansion of the terminal’s Wi-Fi infrastructure was carried out. The objective was to strengthen wireless connectivity across key operational areas, optimize existing assets, and establish a secure, resilient network platform ready for future growth.

Scope of Work: 

Enhanced Wireless Coverage Across the Terminal

• Deployment of additional outdoor access points to extend Wi-Fi reach across the container yard, causeway, and railway station.
• Performance tuning and firmware upgrades of legacy access points to improve stability and responsiveness.

Improved Network Backbone

• Deployment of point-to-multipoint (PTMP) base stations for robust wireless backhaul.
• Installation of the AltaiGate Controller in high-availability mode for seamless handovers, failover capability, and dynamic frequency management.

Power Resilience

• Outdoor-grade UPS systems installed at every mast to ensure 24/7 uptime—even during local power disruptions.

Security & Performance Optimization: 

Advanced Security Measures

• Detection and neutralization of unauthorized (rogue) access points.
• Protection against denial-of-service (DoS) and packet flood attacks.
• Integration with SGTD’s LDAP system for secure, role-based user access.

Post-Deployment Optimization

• Configuration alignment across all APs and core systems.
• Wi-Fi heatmap conducted to confirm full area coverage.
• Monitoring platforms activated: AltaiGate for access point management, and InfiMonitor for live network visibility.

Structured Cabling & Hardware Stability

• Outdoor infrastructure reinforced with anti-corrosion steel brackets and weather-protected PoE injectors.
• Cabling neatly organized and labeled for ease of maintenance and fault tracing.
